Peace be with you!
Friends in Christ, in response to the devastation wrought in Haiti first by the recent earthquake and then by Tropical Storm Grace, many dioceses, including the Diocese of Madison, will be taking special collections. These will be carried out in order to raise relief funds for the victims of these natural disasters that have resulted in such human tragedy.
According to a letter from Archbishop José H. Gomez, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the funds collected will be used in response to the earthquake and Tropical Storm Grace calamities in Haiti and any other disasters that occur and will be distributed where they are most needed.
We will have envelopes in the Narthex if you wish to donate. Cash or checks made out to Saint Albert the Great may be placed in these envelopes and then we will remit this special parish collection to the Diocese of Madison. Funds will then be remitted from our diocese to the Bishops Emergency Disaster Relief Fund.
Donations can also be made online at https://www.madisondiocese.org/donate
Click on “I want to support,” then select “USCCB Bishops Emergency Disaster Fund” on the pull-down menu.
Thank you for considering this corporal work of mercy for our sisters and brothers affected by these tragedies.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help, patroness of Haiti, pray for us!
